Katie Milwright is an award winning director of photography and was recently the 10th Australian female cinematographer to be accredited by the ACS working across film, television, art and documentary. Katie has won 9 ACS awards for her work. She is currently shooting GUILTY, a feature film directed by Matthew Sleeth and produced by Savage Films, in association with THE HIVE and Adelaide International Film Festival.

Katie recently finished shooting THREE SUMMERS, a feature film written and directed by Ben Elton, which will be released in 2017. In 2016 Katie shot Italian/Australian co-production feature film THE SPACE BETWEEN by writer/director Ruth Borgobello.

Katie shot the feature film LOOKING FOR GRACE, directed by Sue Brooks and produced by Sue Taylor, Lizzette Atkins and Alison Tilson. The film screened at Venice International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and had its Australian premiere at Adelaide International Film Festival. In 2014 Katie shot the feature film SUCKER, directed by Ben Chessell and starring Timothy Spall, which was theatrically released in 2015. Katie won the 2016 Gold ACS Vic & Tas Award for her work on both films.

Katie shot and set up the first series of Josh Thomas’ PLEASE LIKE ME, directed by Matt Saville, which is co-produced by US Network Pivot. Katie shot the second series of LAID directed by Abe Forsythe and Ben Chessell’s telemovie THE HEARTBREAK TOUR for SBS, for which she won a Silver ACS Vic Award.

Katie shot the feature film THE WEDDING PARTY, which was nominated for best cinematography at the New York International Film Festival; won Best Film at the LA Comedy Festival; Best Film at the Los Angeles Movie Awards; Best Feature Film at the New York International Film Festival; and Best International Feature at the Manhattan Film Festival.

For her photography on Ben Hackworth’s feature CORROBOREE, which screened at festivals in Berlin, Toronto, Sydney and Melbourne, Katie won the 2007 Gold ACS Vic Award.

Katie was the director of photography on Matchbox Picture’s ANATOMY SERIES: SKIN documentary, which screened at the International Documentary Festival in Amsterdam and festivals in Tribeca and Sydney and won the Gold ACS Vic Award; and the documentary UTOPIA GIRLS directed by Jasmin Tarasin. Katie won the Bronze ACS Vic Award for her photography on David Rosetzky’s installation CATE BLANCHETT MOVING PORTRAIT which screened at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and the ICP Triennial of Photography and Video at the International Centre of Photography New York.

Katie’s short film credits include Sian Davies’ PIÑATA and POETRY, which won the Silver ACS Vic Award; and Ben Chessell’s GOOD VIBRATIONS and HEARTWORM. Katie shot Ben Hackworth’s MARTIN FOUR which screened in the official selection at Cannes in 2001; and VIOLET LIVES UPSTAIRS which won the Bronze ACS Vic Award and screened at Palm Springs, Montreal and Vladivostok film festivals.

Katie shot the music video for CocoRosie’s LEMONADE which was nominated for Best Music Video at Cameraimage in Poland, the biggest international film festival devoted to the creation of film image by cinematographers.
